Lebanon Police are investigating a case of Criminal Mischief.  The offender damaged a vehicle at
Community Action on Hood Avenue, doing $400 worth of damage.  The Lebanon Police have a tips
line set up.  If you have information about this or any crime committed in Lebanon, call the tips line

A mandatory informational meeting for the 2013 Washington County Distinguished Young Woman
participants has been called for tomorrow night at 7:30.  The meeting will be held at the WCHS
library.  Any potential participant should attend with a parent.  Any junior at Washington County High
School, as well as those that live in Washington County but attend a different high school are
eligible…

Tax Aide Volunteers will be helping folks with their taxes this afternoon at the Marion County
Extension Office from 1:00 to 5:00.   The volunteers from the AARP will be at the Extension Office
each Wednesday to help low and moderate income individuals with their taxes through April 11th.

District Tournament play began last night for Marion and Washington Counties.  The Washington
County Commander boys team plays their first round game tomorrow night against Bardstown in
Bardstown.  The other three teams were in action last night, and all three advance.  Although the
boys weren’t playing last night, the Washington County Commanderettes took on Bardstown last
night in the first round of the 19th District Tournament.  The Commanderettes took out the
Bardstown girls, winning, 44-37.  They advance to play Nelson County on Friday night.  Nelson
County beat Bethlehem last night 70-48.  The Marion County Knights and Lady Knights traveled to
Taylor County last night for the first round of the 20th District tournament.  The Knights took on
Campbellsville, winning by a score of 63-43.  The Knights play again on Saturday night, taking on
the winner of tonight’s game between Taylor County and Adair County.  The Lady Knights were also
in action last night for the first round of the 20th District tournament.  The Knights also took down
Campbellsville, beating the Lady Eagles 74-25.  According to Josh Veatch, the Lady Knight’s leading
scorers were Logan Powell with 16, Makayla Epps with 11, and four others with 8.  The Lady Knights
advance to play the winner of tonight’s game between Adair and Taylor Counties.  The 20th District
girl’s finals will be Friday night at Taylor County High School…

Injury collision yesterday in Washington County on the Bluegrass Parkway.  64 year old Ema Sapp Jr
of Leitchfield was operating a 1995 Ford Taurus.  Sapp was traveling west on the BG when he ran
off the roadway and struck a guardrail.  Sapp was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the
vehicle.  He was airlifted from the scene and transported to the University of Kentucky Medical
Center.  The cause of the collision is unknown…

The Marion County Sherriff’s Office would like to raise awareness of criminal mischief in and around
the Loretto City Park.  Trash has been burned and discarded, fencing has been damaged, and
grassy areas have been damaged with tire marks.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the
Sheriff’s office at 692-3051.  The Sheriff’s Department continues with extra patrol in the area…

The Washington County Board of Education meets tonight for their regular monthly meeting.  The
Board will have a work session beginning at 5:00.  At 6:30, the Board will have a Share Fair with the
site-based decision making council from Washington County Middle School, who’s hosting the
meeting.  The regular meeting will begin at 7:00.  The meeting is open to the public.  Again, the
Washington County School Board meets tonight, 7 o’clock, at the Washington County Middle
School…

District tournament basketball play begins tonight in the 20th and 19th Districts.  The Marion County
Lady Knights begin tournament play tonight at Taylor County High School.  The Lady Knights take
on Campbellsville at 6:30 tonight, again, at Taylor County High.  The Marion County boys team also
takes on Campbellsville tonight at Taylor County High to begin 20th District tournament play.  The
Knight’s game will follow the Lady Knight’s game.  Both games can be heard on Country 100.9.  The
Washington County Commanderettes also begin District play tonight, tipping off 19th District
Tournament play against Bardstown at Bardstown High.  The game will follow the Nelson County –
Bethlehem game which starts at 6:00.  Both games can be heard 102.7 WYSB.  The Washington
County boys team begins 19th District Tournament play on Thursday night against Bardstown…



Melissa Lee Knight accepts position on Board of Farmers National Bank of Lebanon and
its holding company, Lebanon Bancshares, Inc.

On Tuesday, January 18, 2012, Melissa Lee Knight was appointed to the Board of Directors of the
Farmers National Bank of Lebanon and its holding company, Lebanon Bancshares, Inc.  Knight was
sworn in Tuesday by President George B. Spragens.  Knight says she is excited to join the Board of
Directors and hopes she can make valuable contributions to the Bank’s oversight and continued
success.
Knight is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Farmers National Bank where she has been
employed since March of 2003.  She is currently a second year student at the Graduate School of
Banking at Louisiana State University.  Knight graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a master’s
degree in Business Administration from Campbellsville University and in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts
in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Western Kentucky University.  In 2010, she
completed a certification in Supercoaching for Entrepreneurs from Strathclyde University of Scotland
and was named a Fellow of the University of Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute.  
Despite the long hours involved in helping manage the Bank and raising her three boys, Knight is
also very involved in the community.  In 2010, she received the Marion County Chamber of
Commerce Outstanding Citizen Award and was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steve
Beshear. She currently serves on the Centre Square Foundation Board and is the Marion County
Country Ham Days Pokey Pig 5K Co-chair.  Her past service includes volunteering on the Centre
Square Committee, the Marion County Judicial Development Board, and the Lebanon Planning and
Zoning Commission. She is an active member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and served as President
in 2010-2011.  Knight is a graduate of Leadership Lebanon/ Marion County.  She is a lifelong
member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and has served on its Pastoral Council as well as
teaching religion classes.  
Knight is the daughter of Larry and Carolyn Lee of Calvary.  She married William Knight of Columbia,
Kentucky, in 2001 and they have three boys—Will, 7, Zachary, 5, and Cameron, 2.  She is a native
of Lebanon and a graduate of Marion County High school.
